Staten Island Ferry

When it comes to sightseeing in New York City, one attraction that should definitely be on your list is the Staten Island Ferry. This iconic ferry has been in operation for over 200 years and provides an unforgettable experience for both locals and tourists alike.

The ferry operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and best of all, it’s free! This makes it a perfect option for anyone on a budget who wants to see the sights of New York City without breaking the bank.

Staten Island Ferry Cost

The Staten Island Ferry is a free service provided by the City of New York’s Department of Transportation. There is no cost to ride the ferry, making it a popular option for both locals and tourists who want to experience the breathtaking views of the New York City skyline and the Statue of Liberty. The ferry operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with frequent departures from both the Whitehall Terminal in Lower Manhattan and the St. George Terminal on Staten Island.

The ferry departs from the Whitehall Terminal in Lower Manhattan and travels to St. George Terminal on Staten Island. The journey takes approximately 25 minutes each way, giving you plenty of time to take in the stunning views of the city’s skyline and landmarks.

One of the most popular attractions on the ferry ride is the Statue of Liberty. As you approach the statue, you’ll get an up-close view of Lady Liberty and the surrounding islands. It’s a truly breathtaking experience, and one that shouldn’t be missed.

In addition to the Statue of Liberty, the ferry also offers incredible views of the Brooklyn Bridge, Governors Island, and the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge. You’ll also have the opportunity to see a variety of boats and ships passing by, from small fishing boats to massive cargo ships.

The ferry itself is also an impressive sight. The boats are spacious, clean, and offer plenty of seating both inside and outside. You can grab a cup of coffee or a snack at the onboard concession stand, or simply sit back and relax as you take in the scenery.

Once you arrive at St. George Terminal on Staten Island, you can explore the island’s many attractions, including the Staten Island Zoo, the Snug Harbor Cultural Center, and the Staten Island Greenbelt. Or, you can simply hop back on the ferry and return to Manhattan, enjoying the views once again.

The Staten Island Ferry is a must-see attraction in New York City. Whether you’re a local or a tourist, it’s an experience that shouldn’t be missed.
