Campbell-Christie House

The Campbell-Christie House is a historic house nearly 2 miles away from Maywood, New Jersey. It was built in 1743 and is one of the oldest houses in the state. The house was home to two of the state’s most prominent families, the Campbells and the Christies. The house is now a museum and is open to the public.

History

The Campbell-Christie House was built in 1743 by John Campbell, a wealthy merchant. The house was originally located on top of a hill near what is now Newark Liberty International Airport. The house was moved to its current location in 1816 when the airport was built.

The house was home to two of New Jersey’s most prominent families, the Campbells and the Christies. The Campbells were one of the state’s leading political families. The Christies were a wealthy family who owned a large amount of land in the state.
